This amazing group of women, who call their association “Women for Peace” live in the remote Ixil Region of Guatemala. The Ixil Region was one of the most negatively impacted during the civil war that ended in 1996. These women strive to improve the lives of their families not only through weaving, but also by growing a variety of vegetables. They are motivated, self-starters who divide profits amongst members based on the amount of work that each woman does. Maya Select is presently the only international distributor of their fine artisan work and has established a price that ensures that each woman receive an above average daily wage. | ||||||||||||
